Our Pastor
Rev. Johnie E. Vause, Sr. was assigned to us on June 3, 2005.
He comes to us from
Bethel AME Church, York, Pennsylvania 17404
The Reverend Johnie E. Vause is the son of Rev. Richard Vause and Dessie Vause was born in Vandale, Arkansas. After the death of his father, he moved to Pennsylvania with his mother and 3 sisters. He was ten years old at that time. He attended the Chester County school system, graduating from Conestoga Senior High School in Berwyn, PA. After high school he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served four years. He was honorably discharged in 1964. Following his discharge Rev. Vause was hired by the Philadelphia Electric Company and worked there until his retirement in 1990.
Rev. Vause was married to Heather L. Vause (Deceased) of Philadelphia, PA. Together they had four children Milton, Johnie, Jr., Nicole A. and Jessye L.
On December 27, 2003 he married Doris A. Robinson of Harrisburg, PA.
In September, 1971 Rev. Vause was licensed to preach the gospel in his home church, Mount Zion A.M.E. Church, Devon, PA. He sang on the Youth Choir and the Young Adult Choir. He was active in the Sunday School and served as church treasurer for many years.
In May of 1976 Rev. Vause was assigned to his first charge in Dowingtown, PA. On May 28, 1977 he was ordained and Itinerant Elder in the Philadelphia Annual Conference of the African Methodist Episcopal Church by Bishop Richard Allen Hildebrand.
To continue preparing himself for the ministry he attended Philadelphia College of Bible, Langhorne, PA where he earned a Diploma of the Evening School of Continuing Education in May, 1979
Rev. Vause earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Geneva College, Beaver Falls, PA in May 1988.
Over the years he has pastered several churches in the Philadelphia Annual Conference.
